A Mosaic Garden

A unique garden for a children’s clinic in the Psychiatric Hospital, Manama.

In 2018-2019, Art Reach partnered with VIVA Bahrain in a community art initiative to redesign and refurbish a children's garden in the Psychiatric Hospital, Manama. The outdoor space beside the Children’s Psychiatric Clinic had been neglected and unused for years. The new design introduced a large playground, a colorful outdoor garden for visiting families and staff to enjoy, and an area suitable for patients and staff for supervised patient activities.

Under the guidance of Art Reach members, volunteers were invited to a series of mosaic workshops to create artwork for the garden and playground. Our volunteer activities were approved by the Capital Governorate's UN Volunteer Program in partnership with the United Nations Bahrain working for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Approximately 40 m2 of mosaic artwork was installed in the children's garden, giving hospital staff and their patients a special and safe place to meet, play and eat outdoors. The new garden and playground were officially opened by H.E. Minister of Health, Miss Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, and other distinguished guests in May 2019.
