A Matisse-inspired mural

This 20 sqm mural was designed by Art Reach Bahrain exclusively for Beacon Private School as a legacy mural: a gift from Beacon students to future generations to inspire and celebrate the spirit of creative collaboration.

Art Reach hosted 8 mosaic workshops in their studio, guiding learners of different ages in the art of mosaic-making using abstract designs. Beacon students acquired technical skills and soft skills - working as a team to collectively improve their school environment.

They also learned about Henri Matisse, a 19th century French artist who valued and captured nature in his unique way using paper cut-outs. Art history crosses time, space and cultures and we continue to learn from Matisse’s mastery of color and design.

Funding for the mural was a combined effort supported by the school management as well as students & teachers in creative fund-raising drives. Small donations were collected at one school event where students were invited students to ditch their school uniform for the day and dress up as their favorite artist. With contributions from Beacon students, their parents, and teachers, this was very much a community art project.

Contributions were also made by Bahrain Financial Harbour and Art Reach members who donated their time and effort as volunteers.
